Chile's general VAT rate is 19%, with other rates including 15%-50% that can apply to certain transactions. The Value-added tax (VAT) is administered by the Internal Revenue Service (Servicio de Impuestos Internos, or SII: (http://www.sii.cl) in Santiago.
Chile's consumption tax is called the Value-added tax (VAT), locally known as Impuesto al Valor Agregado (IVA), which was introduced in December 1974.

Businesses in Chile that are required to collect tax will be issued an identification number. Tax identification numbers can be verified with the Internal Revenue Service (Servicio de Impuestos Internos, or SII:, and will follow a certain format. The VAT number format is Tax identification number (RUT), which is used for VAT and other tax purposes (for example, 12.345.678-0).
