A sales tax exemption certificate can be used by businesses (or in some cases, individuals) who are making purchases that are exempt from the Alabama sales tax. Alabama business that are buying items at wholesale prices will use this resale certificate. This form allows you to purchase items to be resold by your business or items to create products to be sold by your business at wholesale prices without paying tax on the wholesale cost. However, when the items are resold, tax must be paid at the time of purchase by the consumer. It is important to note that should your business decided not to use the wholesale items for their intended purposeãto be resold in some formãthen you are responsible to paying the necessary sales tax on the items.
