A sales tax exemption certificate can be used by businesses (or in some cases, individuals) who are making purchases that are exempt from the Hawaii sales tax. This form allows Hawaii contractors or people acting on behalf of Hawaii contractors to purchase materials and supplies from wholesale distributors without paying tax on the wholesale cost. In order to purchase materials using this form, you must have both a valid building permit as well as a Hawaii tax ID number. At the completion of the sale, the seller of the materials should keep this form for his records. It should not be sent to the tax office.

This ia a Resale Certificate, which is a special type of sales tax exemption certificate intended for use by businesses or individuals who are purchasing goods which will be resold.
