Minnesota Sales Tax Exemption Certificate
A sales tax exemption certificate can be used by businesses (or in some cases, individuals) who are making purchases that are exempt from the Minnesota sales tax. You can download a PDF of the Minnesota Sales Tax Exemption Certificate (Form ST-3) on this page. For other Minnesota sales tax exemption certificates, go here.
If you have a tax-exempt status in Minnesota, you must use this form in order to receive your tax-free status when purchasing qualified goods. If you have a tax ID number, you will need it to complete this form. You should also be advised that if you mistakenly claim tax-exempt status, you will be subject to penalties. If you are a seller who will be accepting this form as proof of tax-exempt status, you must take caution that it is completed in its entirety; otherwise, it will be considered invalid. It is also important that you keep this form as proof of a tax-free purchase. If you are asked to provide proof of tax-free purchases, you must provide this form; otherwise, you will be liable for the tax obligation.
